HOW CAN I FORGET THEE!

Master, how can I forget Thee! Thou hast led me out of night, And didst show me boundless mercy, Saw my footsteps placed aright; Full bestowed Thy grace and friendship On such sinful one as I— How, O Lord, can I repay Thee! Lead my way and hear my cry.
Father, how can I forget Thee! Poor, unworthy, and alone; Can such humble mortal serve Thee? Can I ever be Thine own? All I have is Thine, O Master; Lend me power to sing Thy praise; Would that I could serve Thee ever— Serve Thee all my living days.
Master, how can I forget Thee! I was wand’ring far from Thee, Lost in wickedness and folly, Light Thou gav’st and now I see. Contrite o’er my great transgression, Stricken at Thy feet I lie— Give me strength to bear my sorrow, Lead my way and hear my cry.
