Italy and Turkey Near Conflict

The recent bombardment of Midi on the coast of Arabia by two Italian gunboats is declared to have been not a mere police operation against pirates, as at first asserted, but rather the beginning of a long-expected trouble between Italy and Turkey, for which Italy has been preparing for some time. The sultan is said to be desirous of gaining time, whereas Italy is said to be seeking for a misunderstanding in order that she may take possession of Tunis.
