Pacific Cable to Hawaii

SECRETARY OF THE NAVY MOODY has directed that the soundings of the Pacific Ocean taken by the government be turned over to the Pacific Cable Company in return for concessions made by the company to the government. A cable between San Francisco and the Hawaiian Islands will be in operation within a few weeks, according to the calculations of officers of the company.
