MIND THE MASTER.

[Esther H. Trowbridge, in Christian Advocate.]
Our noblest thoughts are those that start In the deep fountain of the heart, And wend along their hidden way, Like brooklets on a summer’s day, Till in the open fields they find The broader rivers of the mind; And there, within the mighty sweep Of action, proud and strong and deep, Those thoughts that in the heart were born At first are lost, like stars at morn, But finally their force intent Returns, when brain and nerve are spent, Asserting by a right innate To rule our acts of love and hate, And to declare to all mankind, The heart is master of the mind.
