Revolutions in South America

THE expected conference between the government of Colombia and the insurgent leader has not taken place, owing to the course which the government has taken with General Uribe-Uribe, who surrendered recently. This makes more uncertain than ever the date when peace will be proclaimed there. The government gunboats are now searching for the insurgent vessel, and a battle is expected soon. A report from Bolivia states that the revolutionists of Acre province have defeated the government troops, captured two colonels and a considerable number of men. From Venezuela reports are conflicting and uncertain. It is only certain that the president is still in the field, and the revolutionists are not crushed.
