Arbitration of Miners’ and Street-Car Disputes

The miners’ arbitration committee has finished its inspection of the mines, and has taken up the work of receiving testimony from the two parties involved. In some of the mines the men have not yet returned to work. The board of arbitration appointed to consider the demands of the street-car men of Chicago have granted them an increase of a little over 10 per cent. in wage. The arbitrators of the French miners’ strike have decided against the miners in the matter of an increase of wages, and the miners propose to appeal to the House of Deputies.
