Excavations at Tel-Abraham Forbidden

THE sultan has withdrawn from Mr. Banks, the American archæologist, permission to make excavations in the vicinity of Tel-Abraham, holding that it is sacred ground, the supposed burial place of Abraham. Permission had been granted through the American minister in August last.
