WHAT is a cold winter? We have had a rather cold winter in Oakland; we never before saw so many successive frosts in this city. But of the severity of the cold our friends in the East can judge from this: Calla lillies have been in bloom all-winter in the open air! We certainly have an enjoyable climate.
