New Method for Extracting Calcium

A new method of extracting calcium from lime and its salts has been discovered. Metallic calcium is now $2,000 a pound. By the new discovery it is thought the price will be reduced to less than half a dollar a pound. It is believed that it will be largely used in the manufacture of iron in freeing that metal from sulphur and phosphorus. It will be freely used in chemical research in forming new compounds.
