The American Standard Revised Version

One of the many excellent things in the American Standard Revised Version is the greater uniformity of rendering the Greek words into English. For instance, “servant” sometimes comes from words meaning a bond-slave as well as a hired servant. This distinction of the bond-slave is indicated in the margin. “Hell” in our common version comes from these words, Hades, Gehenna, Tartarus, the latter but once. The Standard Version transfers Hades, the abode of the dead; renders Gehenna, the place of punishment, by “hell;” and in 2 Peter 2:4 places Tartarus in the margin. These are only illustrative instances of the superiority of the American Standard Revised Version.
