The Cost of the Coal Strike

The cost of the first eighteen weeks of the coal strike is estimated at $112,020,000. The loss in wages to striking employees is put at $24,000,000; to employees, not strikers, $5,300,000. The loss to business men not in anywise involved in the differences between the operators and miners, is $21,700,000. And yet how easily the operators could settle it, not by defeat, but by doing a just thing!
