Attempt to Wreck the Czar’s Train

An attempt was made to wreck the train on which the czar returned from Kursk, on September 22. Rails were removed from the track on the two routes which the czar might travel. In one instance the plot was discovered; in the other the train was wrecked; but the czar reached St. Petersburg in safety.
