Where Do You Get Your Warmth?
—“One can freeze up in this church,” said a sister recently concerning a congregation that shall be nameless. Who has not heard similar remarks? But before any one settles down to freeze, it might be well to inquire as to where a Christian should get his warmth. What is the source of his life? What seems to be frozen sometimes contains much latent heat. God works in a true Christian by creative power. If we are in a church where great frigidity may be felt, would it not be well to let God through us develop some of the latent heat? One writer has beautifully said that at such times we should draw warmth from others’ coldness, courage from their cowardice, loyalty from their treason. The worse the atmosphere in which we are placed, the more need of keeping the channel open between us and the great Source of all good.
