Death an Enemy.

What a sad thing it is that Christianity has been so poisoned by the pagan idea that death is a friend! Nay, it goes back of paganism to its true paternalism, the father of lies. It was Satan, the old serpent, who said to man, “Ye shall not surely die.” He is the father of the delusive theory of the “immortality of the soul.” By that falsehood he hides the true life, the life and immortality which comes alone through Jesus Christ. He gives life, everlasting life, that we may win incorruptible characters, worthy of incorruptible—immortal—bodies. How fitting it is, isn't it? How supremely fitting it is that those who selfishly abuse the gift of life should lose it! How reasonable it is that only those who righteously live, imparting blessings to all with whom they come in contact, shall live to all eternity. And this is God’s plan.
