China Seeks Evacuation of Tien-tsin

On July 4 the Chinese Government, through its minister at Washington, appealed to the Government of the United States to use its good offices in bringing about the evacuation of Tien-tsin by the foreign military powers. The appeal states that the foreign ministers seem disposed to comply with China’s desires in the matter, but the military representatives of the foreign governments are opposing the withdrawal. It is reported that Secretary Hay will at once take the matter up with the governments interested.
