House Passes Shattuc Immigration Bill

On May 27 the House passed the Shattuc immigration bill, which brings into one act all the scattered legislation heretofore enacted in regard to immigrants, eliminates what has become obsolete, amends some of the administrative features of existing legislation, and adds some provisions made necessary by the expansion of territorial limits. One amendment to the bill prohibits the sale of intoxicating liquors at immigrant stations, and another prohibits the sale of intoxicants in the Capitol building.
