California Earthquake and Pacific Volcanoes

A slight earthquake was felt in central and northern California between ten and eleven o'clock in the forenoon of May, 19. In some places windows were broken and buildings were cracked. It is thought that this may be premonitory of the outbreak of certain volcanoes on the Pacific Coast, ready to burst forth at any time. Some of these volcanoes are located in the vicinity of Mts. Shasta, Baker, Pitt, Diablo, Hood, Fairweather, and St. Elias. These are all said to show signs of internal activity.
