AVOID THE CLOAK OF VANITY.

By Benj. Phillips

Avoid the cloak of vanity, Or fling it from thee far away; No vileness seek; thy thoughts should be Of all that makes a blessed day.

Let rev'rence guide each step for thee, And aid thy comrades whilst thou may; Avoid the cloak of vanity, Or fling it from thee far away.

Not once in all thy days deny The gracious help of Him, Most High; For failure comes—ah! certainly To those who from His course wouldst stray; Avoid the cloak of vanity, Or fling it from thee far away.

Seiad, Cal. BENJ. PHILLIPS.
