Boycott Against the Beef Trust

BECAUSE of the recent action of the beef trust in materially advancing the price of beef, a society of women has been organized in Chicago for the purpose of combating the trust by refusing to eat meat. Two thousand of the employees of the Chicago and Alton shops are reported to have declared a similar boycott on the beef trust. Attorney-general Knox has ordered his assistant to make a special investigation into the charges that a beef trust has been organized and is operating in violation of the anti-trust law, and to prosecute the officials of the combination if a case can be made against them.
