SEVERE storms have raged throughout the East, South, and Northwest during the week, accompanied in some places by floods, which have occasioned considerable loss of life and much damage to property. The worst floods have been in Tennessee, where 22 persons are reported to have lost their lives, and where the damage to property is placed in the millions. Michigan and Nebraska have been swept by heavy winds that have carried destruction of property with them. On March 30, a severe tornado swept through portions of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Some lives were lost in the track of this storm, and many buildings were wrecked or damaged. Six Presbyterian churches were in the track of the tornado, and suffered more or less damage. In some of them a number of persons were injured by falling chimneys or portions of falling roofs. In North Dakota the railroads have been compelled to cease operations on account of the floods there.
