Bishop Wigger, of Newark, N. J., has punished Priest Corrigan by suspending him for the space of two weeks, his offense being the publication of a book advocating the extension to the priests of a right to a voice in the election of their bishops. The correspondence between the men is published, showing that they do not hesitate to charge one another with misrepresentations, and it is hard to get at the truth any way. It is only interesting to Protestants as another illustration of the internal despotism of the hierarchy: a man advocates the expediency of giving to priests a voice in the nomination of bishops, and the making of an argument in favor of this subjects a priest to suspension and disgrace! The priest is going to Rome in search of justice, but we can tell him that he will find they do not keep the article there.
