Do Not Be Discouraged

Do not be Discouraged.—If you are a follower of Christ, follow so closely that no disconnecting circumstance can intervene. Keep the eye fixed on Him who never was discouraged and never failed (Isa. 42:4), tho He “was in all points tempted like as we are” (Heb. 4:15). He bore all this without sin; yea, “He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows” (Isa. 53:4); yea, “His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that [for the very purpose that] we” “should live unto righteousness.” 1 Peter 2:24. Then do not be discouraged; for He who has so long borne all this great load without failing or being discouraged, “is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.” Jude 24. Then whatever enemies—physical or spiritual—may confront us, we have this counsel and promise: “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them; for the Lord thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deut. 31:6. “Be not afraid, only believe.”
