SEEK RELIEF FROM WOE.

Despairing man goes forth his strength to spend In direst moil or silly grief and vain; He wraps himself in cloak of crushing pain, And thinks there bides nowhere for him a friend. Ah! poverty and piercing sickness blend, And haunting cares—a never-ending train— Depress with zeal the wounded mortals' brain, And keep him in the sphere of sorrow penned.
But while incaged in ills of various name, Some loving muse to Him above bestow, Or seek sweet faith without the touch of shame; Thou'lt surely find relief from bitter woe, Find hope, which sad misfortune can not claim, And sweet success that trusting humans know.
