AN APPEAL.

By Edith B. Goodrich

O Jesus, Master, Saviour, Friend, Look on Thy child, my soul defend; Bless me and keep me to the end!
O take away each vain desire; Refine me by affliction’s fire— Thy chastening rod but lifts me higher!
Prepare my soul for that great day; Help me to cast each sin away; Speak to me, Lord, help me obey!
My great transgression do I own; Naught but Thy life can e’er atone, That only save, yea, that alone!
On this alone I rest my soul, By this alone I win the goal, By this forever am made whole!
