China Organizes a Naval College

A DESPATCH from Tien-tsin, China, states that the emperor has ordered Admiral Yeh to organize a naval college at Chefoo, and to engage Rear-Admiral Lord Charles Beresford to act as naval instructor at the college. China’s experience at the hands of Japan, and more recently at the hands of the “powers,” has shown her the necessity of adopting their ways in order to save herself from their attacks. Her people are good imitators, and it will not take them long to learn the game. It will not be long before the people of that part of the world will be as well prepared as the people of this part for the battle in which they are all to engage.
