Commission Favors Panama Canal Route

On January 20 President Roosevelt transmitted to Congress the supplemental report of the Isthmian Canal Commission. In this report the commission unanimously favors the Panama route. This change has been brought about by the offer of the French company to sell out for $40,000,000. The advocates of the Nicaragua route claim that this is simply a plan for gaining time, and hindering the building of any canal.
