CHRIST'S RECOMPENSE.

High grief is on that brow of Thine, And in Thy brooding eyes,— Those bournes where lonely sorrows shine,— The tears come home and rise.
The sighs that haunt Thy bosom feel Around Thy mouth, the gate; To human woe for human weal The house is consecrate.
High grief is on Thy burning brow, High sorrow in Thine eyes,— But, O for us, Thy tears are now The wells of Paradise!
Dark seem they; dark now, being so bright, That souls, yet shy, earth-sore, From deep, deep, places of the light May drink forevermore.
