France Moves to End Clergy Funding

The French Government is seeking step by step to release itself from the domination of the Catholic Church. The latest budget is reported to have excluded the provision usually made directly for the salaries of the clergy. To this there is strong opposition in the Chamber of Deputies; but there is indication that the “public worship budget” will be suppressed.
