INVOCATION

The days allotted me are passing by, And, O, how barren they of worthy deeds! How this bleak world doth need them too; and I, My God! and I can show it but my needs.
“Thine the power” I read, and faith returns; Thy mighty arm in my behalf I see. I can not do good deeds, dear Lord, or learn Thy righteous ways, until Thou teachest me.
Then make my life as passive clay, and mold It even as Thou wilt; it is not mine. Renew Thine image now as ’twas of old, A transcript of Thy character divine.
