New Explorations in the Comstock Lode

The deepest shaft in Colorado is that of the Geyser mine, at Silver Cliff, which penetrates the rock to a depth of 2,400 feet. But even that is a shallow puncture beside the one which goes down into the depths of the Comstock Lode, again active and productive. In that wonderful treasure-house, from which more than five hundred millions in value have been taken out, the new explorations are expected to reach a depth of 6,000 feet.
