I HAVE PRAYED FOR THEE.

Tho tears mark thy pathway, as day after day Thy foes may besiege thee in battle array, Tho fierce the temptations which constant assail, I've prayed for thee, child, that thy faith may not fail.
Tho clouds draped in darkness obscure the bright light, And hide wily dangers and snares from thy sight, Tho thou canst not see, through the dark, gloomy vale, I've prayed for thee, child, that thy faith may not fail.
Tho the anvil be brought, and thou laid thereupon, For fitting, the temple of God to adorn, Tho fire and hammer should cause thee to quail, I've prayed for thee, child, that thy faith may not fail.
—Almetta M. Richards.
