Municipal Reform in New York and San Francisco

On Tuesday, November 5, Seth Low, candidate of the anti-Tammany and anti-vice forces of New York City, was elected mayor by a plurality of 29,864. Justice William T. Jerome, whose name has been familiar among the anti-vice forces, was elected to the office of district attorney by a majority of 11,000, although the Tammany forces did everything in their power to defeat him. New York is therefore promising herself a thorough cleaning up and many necessary reforms in her municipal administration. On the same day San Francisco elected a union-labor mayor, who is promising many reforms.
