Samar Slaughter Investigation

INVESTIGATION into the slaughter of company C, Ninth Infantry, on the island of Samar, seems to indicate that the massacre was made possible by the treachery of the president of the town, who led the assault in person. The ringing of the church bell was the signal for the attack. Four battalions of regulars and 300 Macabebes have been sent to that island to conquer the natives. Three gunboats have also been sent to Samar to assist in the work.
