DARKNESS AND LIGHT.

Out in the darkness the heathen are dying— Dying for want of the light ye can give; Waken, O Christians! and hark to their crying, Lead them to Jesus, and so shall they live.
What, shall they perish because ye are sleeping? Whose is the blame if they die in their sin? Why will ye turn a deaf ear to their weeping? Go to the outcasts and welcome them in.
Helpless and hopeless they grope in their blindness, Weary of evil, yet knowing no good, No one to comfort, nor show them a kindness, Starving for want of the Heavenly Food.
Wherefore, then, harden your hearts unto pity? Cast out each hindrance that lies in the way. Go, then, or send, to each desolate city, Preach them the Gospel, and teach them to pray.
Then when the Saviour returns in His glory, You will He claim as His helpers on earth; Small are your lives, but the Lord knows their story; He will accept them and double their worth.
Life is no longer a thing to be wasted: Are we not gifted with body and soul? Thine are they, Lord, and when once we have tasted Work in Thy service, our hearts shall be whole.
