Slave Trading in Egypt and Arabia

The England has abolished open slave-dealing in Egypt, the traffic is said to be still carried on there clandestinely. In the neighboring Turkish and Arabian dominions, slave-trading is openly carried on. Consul Long, who is stationed at Jiddah, quotes the prices of the slaves in the markets there, and also at Medina and Mecca. The prices range from $80 to $500 apiece.
