“BE SOBER.”

In the SIGNS of June 5, in the appointment of a meeting, the figures of the year became transposed so that it read 9101, instead of 1901. A subscriber writes:—
With the progression of the age, the military spirit, the heaping together of wealth, and the spiritual declension, what an awful thing to think of what that day would be! Well may we follow the instruction of 1 Peter 1:13.
That text reads: “Wherefore girding up the loins “of your mind, be sober and set your hope perfectly ‘on the grace that is to be brought unto you at the ‘revelation of Jesus Christ.” R. V. The margin reads “that is being brought.” God is giving His grace that His people, among whom He will receive any one, may stand free, clear strong, and true. The world is drunken with wine, and pleasure, and wealth, and war. God’s children should come up into the mountain-top with Him. They can look down upon all these things, and rightly estimate them in the light of the cross, and of eternal life. “Be sober, be vigilant.”
