Tenements and Vice.

The Tenement House Commission in New York City reports that there are 2,372,079 persons, or more than two-thirds of the population of the entire city, dwelling in 82,652 tenement houses. All the conditions of this deplorable system make for disease and unrighteousness. Old and young, immoral and criminal, of both sexes, are often herded with the well-disposed. The last census showed that in one block there were over 30,000. What a field is here opened for the millions of some of the great capitalists of that city!
