VICTORY

AGAIN the day its course has run; Again ’tis night at set of sun; Again my toilsome task is done, And weary hands may rest.
To-day twice o’er temptation came; To-day I breathed the Saviour’s name; To-day in Him I overcame The sin that most beset.
My lips were prompted quick to speak; My blood swift mounted to my cheek; My heart its vengeance vowed to seek; But silent-voiced I prayed.
Then peace stole softly to my breast; Then patience sweet my brow caressed; Then love brought perfect joy and rest; And I sang notes of praise.
