Drunkenness and Its Effects on Children

One half of all idiotic children are born of drinking parents. One notorious drunkard is the father of seven idiots. Two temperate young people married. One son and one daughter born to them were fine, strong children. The parents became inebriates, after which they had four children, one weak-minded and the other three absolutely insane.—D. S. Horne.
