What the Bible says about to-day’s great problems

That stupendous problems, both social and political, now confront the world, no one can doubt; that even nature herself is participating in the general unrest as manifested in storms, cyclones, tidal waves, and almost unbearable seasons of heat, is everywhere apparent.
But that the Bible has definitely spoken of all these and clearly indicated their significance is not so generally recognized. To make this fact perfectly plain, Asa Oscar Tait, of the SIGNS OF THE TIMES editorial staff, has written a book entitled Heralds of the Morning. It contains nearly three hundred pages, is beautifully and strikingly illustrated, and issued in both English and German.
It first sets forth the present conditions of men and nations in a few clear-cut and powerful paragraphs, and follows with Scripture statements, showing that these conditions are signs of our times—heralds of the morning.
A chapter on the

Great Deceptions

which are becoming more and more numerous, is especially interesting and profitable. After speaking of

This Remarkable Century

and its wonderful inventions, the progress of art and literature, and the significance of it all, the author speaks of Crime under the heading of

Prevalence of Crime a Sign of Our Times

Associated with this there are chapters on “Judgment Is Turned Away Backward” and “The Earth Is Filled with Violence.” All these subjects are vividly illustrated.

Ye Have Heaped Treasure for the Last Days

This chapter touches on the Capital and Labor Question, and introduces Scriptures which directly state that the amassing of wealth is a sign of the end. The facts and figures brought out here are startling and deserve most serious consideration.

The Social Vice

Under the above caption, the prevalence of licentiousness and the terrible evils connected with it are dealt with.

The Nations Are Angry

A two-page representation of a naval duel—a study in itself—introduces this division of the book. The author brings in facts concerning the war spirit and war footing of the nations of to-day that may well appall the stoutest heart. However, the significance of all this preparation for war is the special object of the chapter, and that significance is made perfectly plain.
Following this, attention is directed to

The Voice of the Elements

in which the terrible devastations caused by storms, tidal waves, and like phenomena are treated. This chapter will appeal to every one, because all are well aware of the increasing frequency of such things.
Many other phases of the one great subject, the signs of our times, are treated in this book, but they can not be recounted here. It is a work which will richly repay careful study. Sample pages will be sent free to those desiring them.
The book itself will be mailed for $1.25 in strong cloth binding, or $1.50 for cloth with gold edges.
