Righteousness and the Right to Reign

The right to reign eternally is the right of righteousness, literally the “survival of the fittest.” In the mart of the world might makes right, and might just now is the synonym for money. For the present it seems to triumph over right, but it never can survive the final test. Its promise is wholly of the life which now is, and it often fails of that. Righteousness has a passport to the life beyond; for “in ‘the way of righteousness is life, and in the pathway ‘thereof there is no death.” All the death it meets God has mercifully changed to a “sleep in Christ.”
