The Corrupting Love of Money

A striking example of the corrupting use of money is seen in the doings of the political boss of Pennsylvania. Thirteen of Philadelphia’s public franchises were recently delivered to him, and the facts and conditions warrant the statement that is current that there is not a city in the entire State that is not under his control. It is because men are fairly being consumed by the love of money that they will thus sell themselves, both body and soul. In the greed for money they seem to be callous to every sense of shame. The seed-sowing of boodle and bribery is rapidly ripening unto its harvest. Necessity demands that the hand of the infinite One must soon turn into that field the sharp sickle of retributive justice.
