“AS YE WOULD.”

“As ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” Luke 6:31.
O, sad to the young, the old, Oft erring in doubt and fear, To be shunned, left alone in the cold, Alone in the darkness drear.
Know ye not that the ache of the heart Oft prompteth the bitter speech, From your circle left apart, Longing your hands to reach?
Dear ones, since life's so brief, So fleeting its little day; So soon do we fade as the leaf, Let us love while we may.
To the erring tho great the blame, Tho sore the life-work failed, For the sake of His dear name By love be it vailed.
Soon to meet at the throne above, To stand at the bar of heaven, To-day let us forgive, As we hope to be forgiven.
