Aim at Something.

It is said that a judge, by a remark, gave a word of counsel to a young minister which had a moulding effect on a long, useful life. The remark was this: “You are just commencing your ministry. Allow me to suggest that in each sermon you aim for one of two things—either to win a soul or to build up believers.” We pass it along. It is sad to hear a sermon preached because it “must be done,” or “is expected,” or to “please the people,” or to “win applause,” or for any other purpose whatsoever save to win souls or build up believers. Preach God’s message.
