England’s Declining Agriculture

AGRICULTURAL statistics in England show that there has been a rapid falling off both in the number of acres devoted to the raising of wheat and in the amount of land cultivated for green crops. This decline has amounted to 25 per cent. within thirty years, which means that England is becoming more and more dependent upon the rest of the world for the necessaries of life. Her population shows a continued tendency to migrate to the cities, many of which are growing rapidly. Especially is this true of Greater London, which now has a population of more than 6,000,000.
