Turkey Prohibits Typewriters

Turkey has declared against the use or importation of the typewriter in that country, and 200 machines now in the custom-house have been ordered returned to the shippers. The authorities have taken this position because of the impossibility of ascertaining the authorship of type-written manuscript by any distinctive features in the writing, which would enable persons to write seditious matter without fear of being discovered by the government.
