THE GREAT HARPER.

Our lives are harps in the hands of God, He playeth upon the strings; He strikes each harp with master touch Till the soul within it sings.
And when He draws but discords forth, Low moans and piercing cries, “The Master tuneth His harp to-day,” A gentle voice replies
To our impatient questionings, “For it is His desire To bring it into harmony With His angelic choir.
“Fear not; He will not overstrain, He knoweth every string, And will make it swell the melody When angel voices sing.”
Then if to Him some minor chords Will make the music sweet, We'll say, “Strike, Lord, till to Thine ear The melody's complete.” —Lizzie Pershing Anderson.
