TO PATRONS OF THE “SIGNS OF THE TIMES.”

It appears that some do not understand why it is necessary that the renewal of their subscription should reach us before the date of expiration as shown on the address label of the paper. Let us explain— Some of our patrons live a long way off, others live where mail reaches them very slowly, and in order that all may receive the paper while it is fresh, we must get it into the mail at least ten days before its date. In order to do this we must make up our mailing list, which means taking out of it all subscriptions that have expired, and give our order to the pressman to print the paper about two weeks before its date. In this order provision is made only for those names on the list. When renewals reach us late, it sometimes happens that we do not have papers to supply the demand for back numbers, and the parties are disappointed. This paper, dated May 1, was completed in the type room and sent to the electrotype foundry on Wednesday, April 17. It was made ready and some copies were printed on Friday, and on Sunday, April 21, the printing was completed, and the paper was mailed. We make this explanation for the information of our friends, and that they may appreciate more fully the reason why renewals should be sent in early. This man knows and appreciates the SIGNS: “I send to have my paper another year. I have taken it from the time I accepted the Sabbath, about twenty years ago, and it grows better every year.” N. C. Nye, Stow, Mass. The manager of a reform school for girls said: “One hundred and forty-two girls have made a solemn vow to lead a Christian life, and it was mostly thru the influence of the SIGNS.”
