The White Light of Holiness
WE have seen the beautiful picture of the solar spectrum, the colors of light thrown on the screen—violet, indigo, blue, and so on up to red—all the colors of the rainbow. The spectrum is thrown on the screen by a beam of light passing thru a glass prism. Now concentrate those colors by a gentle turn of the prism into one spot on the canvas, and they gradually fade away and we have a patch of beautiful white light. Let us imagine the spectrum before us in all its fair colors; above the colors let us write, not their names, but the names of the traits and graces of the Christlike character. Begin with love, the supreme grace; faith, hope, gentleness, patience, justice, truth, temperance, chastity, humility, and all the rest. It is a glorious array. Now turn the prism a little, and concentrate them all upon a single spot on the screen, and you have the white light of holiness. “Be ye holy; for I the Lord am holy.” O, the ineffable splendor of the composite grace of holiness!—Christian Advocate.
