William J. Bryan’s Commoner

Mr. William J. Bryan’s paper, the Commoner, is out. He tells us that it is published to aid the common people, “those who earn their living and give to society a fair return for the benefits bestowed by society.” For the use of the term “common people” he finds warrant in the Gospel, “the common people heard Him [Christ] gladly.” The paper is bright, neatly printed, and will be hailed with gladness, we presume, by those who hold with Mr. Bryan politically. Its first issue was 30,000.
